The project goal
The homeowner wanted to replace the struggling lawn with fresh turf suited to Jacksonville’s warm climate. Why sod preparation matters

Installing the Floratam sod
The sod was placed with tight seams and fitted carefully along pavement, landscape edges, and other property features. Staggering seams and minimizing gaps helps produce a cleaner finished appearance while reducing exposed areas that can dry out.
Once installation was complete, the property had an immediate transformation: fresh, uniform St. Augustine turf replaced the worn lawn and gave the home stronger curb appeal.
New-sod watering and aftercare
Fresh sod needs consistent moisture during establishment. The exact schedule depends on weather, soil, shade, and irrigation coverage, but the goal is to keep the sod and upper soil layer appropriately moist without creating standing water or runoff.
As roots begin anchoring, watering is gradually adjusted toward a normal lawn schedule. Mowing should wait until the turf is rooted firmly enough that equipment will not shift pieces or leave ruts. St. Augustine should also be maintained at an appropriate height rather than cut extremely short.
